Galway is the final port of the most exciting and excruciating race around the world. In 2009, we had an amazing time there, and this year we are having a stall in the Food Pavilion under the umbrella of Bord Bía and Tourism Ireland where you can taste and buy packs of our salmon and other food producers. There will also be finger food available there using our smoked salmon and other Irish artisan food products.
The Galway Volvo Ocean Race festival will be held until 8 July 2012, with the yachts having arrived in the medieval city in the early hours of 3 July. It will be the biggest festival ever held in Galway, with lots of free open-air concerts, stalls, in-shore races and good old craic!
You will find us on the Claddagh side of the river Corrib, in the Food Pavilion in the Global Village where there is lots to do for young ones and adults alike. Find downloadable maps of the festival ground here.
Birgitta is giving a demo/talk on Saturday 7th July at 5pm at the Kitchen Theatre next to the Food Pavilion. She was invited to do that by the Euro-Toques Ireland – the European Community of Chefs & Cooks.
The idea of the ‘Food Skills & Food Craft’ demo slot is to showcase the range of food craftspeople we have in Ireland and/or to teach visitors useful or forgotten food skills.
